“Ugolino and His Sons” by Jean Baptiste Carpeaux on display in an exhibition open to the public: a very suggestive sculptural group with an intense depiction of the tormented and anguished father, immortalised while trying to resist the temptation of accepting the offer of his children, willing to give their own lives and bodies to feed him.
On the occasion of the inauguration of Monday, 20 December 2021, Filippo Grazzini, associate professor of Italian Literature at the University of Tuscia – Department of Humanities and Communication, introduced the event with a lecture called “L’uomo, la bestia e la pietà: considerazioni sul canto del conte Ugolino”.
This event was organised with the contribution of Regione Lazio to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri.
